Katherine Pauhl MPT, M.Sc

Physiotherapist and clinic owner

A Bit About Me

I received my Masters of Physiotherapy (2013) and Masters in Human Kinetics (2008) from the University of British Columbia. I have a passion for both research and neurological rehab. With over 8 yrs of clinical neurosciences research experience, 4 publications and numerous conference presentations, I work to build and implement practice techniques which are evidence based.

I also focus my practice on integrating both neurological and orthopedic specific training with all of my clients. In this way, I do my best to provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan no matter your current concerns or aliments.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young daughters. I also enjoy hiking, biking, downhill and water skiing and just overall being outdoors.

Continuing education and courses include but are not limited to:

  • Neuro-Developmental Treatment/Bobath certified (C/NDT)

  • Level 2 acupuncture through Acupuncture Canada

  • Concussion management

  • Vestibular rehabilitation

  • Dynamic Taping

How I got here

Having spent a great deal of my life in physiotherapy clinics, I knew early on that I wanted to work in health care, though I wasn’t sure which field. After completing my M.Sc., I worked as a research coordinator for a gait rehabilitation study involving patients with spinal cord injuries. The positive impact I saw on participants’ lives and the joy I felt being part of that journey made me realize I wanted to help people in a similar, hands-on way. I knew I could provide hope, progress, and a tangible improvement in the quality of life for those facing significant challenges. So, I went back to school to pursue my MPT degree.

I was drawn to the neurological field but knew that my approach needed to be more holistic. I didn’t want clients, like someone with Parkinson’s disease who also suffered an ankle injury, to attend multiple clinics—one neuro-focused and one orthopedic-based. This sparked my commitment to split my continuing education between both areas, allowing me to offer integrated, comprehensive care.

Now, as I run my own in-home physiotherapy business, I’m able to provide one-on-one, personalized care that merges the best of both neuro and orthopedic training. I’m not an expert in all things, but I’m committed to continuously refining my skills to ensure I provide the best possible care for my clients.

In rehabilitation, there are never guarantees. But for me, there’s always hope. We have nothing to lose, and so much to gain, and all we can do is try and see where the journey takes us.
